House Budget Committee Takes Aim at Federal and Postal Employees and Retirees
Last week, the House Budget Committee favorably reported to the House of Representatives a budget bill, House Concurrent Resolution 27, that would target the earned benefits of federal and postal employees and retirees. The committee approved the measure on a party line vote, with the Republican supporting the bill and the Democrat opposing it. The bill will be considered by the House of Representatives later this week; NAPUS members should urge their Representatives to vote NO on House Concurrent Resolution 27.
The bill impacts the federal and postal community in the following ways:
Eliminates the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) for new employees
Increases employee contributions to federal retirement
Limits the Federal Employees Retirement Program (FEHBP) employer contribution to the general inflation rate, rather than the growth in plan premiums
Reduces the rate of return on the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) G-Fund
Reduces residential mail delivery frequency and would change the type of mail delivery
Hello Ohio NAPUS,
I have just returned from the Ohio Chapter convention. It was a great convention. I thank all of the attendees. I hope that it was an informative, educational, fun filled convention for you. I will go into more detail soon but now I need to get this posted.
Please check the National Website tomorrow, Friday 2014 at 2:00 PM. The website is www.napus.org. I had a telecom with Tony Leonardi for the State Presidents. There is information coming out on Post Plan from Headquarters.
What I know at this time is that-
There is no change in regards to Postmasters in impacted offices until 1/9/2015. Everything will remain the same.
An explanation to why the Level 6's have not been posted will be given.
The APWU Arbitration has NOT been decided as of tonight.
A remapping plan will be announced.
NAPUS is assuming a VERA is coming however it will ONLY be for impacted Postmasters from Post Plan.
Discussion was held on Level 18's, upgraded or not the determination of Postmaster work hours such as 15, 25, or required to work 40 hours. Tony Leonardi will be sending this up to headquarters for a determination.

It don't get no better than that!
